Faceted, polished, smooth

We recently dropped off an order at Honey and Hazel with some new faceted wooden charm necklaces.  Each of these are completely unique, handmade from scraps of exotic woods. They are cut into a faceted shape, then sanded down win increasingly finer grit paper until they are super-smooth. Finally they are polished with a beeswax based finish that makes them feel downright silky. They have a great tactile sense (for those of us who like to play with our jewelry) and they look cool too!  Right now these five necklaces are at Honey and Hazel, so get 'em while they last!

Materials: Stones

oooh!  Look at the new stones Lock got us!  I believe this a not so subtle hint that I need to learn how to solder properly and make bezels?  I am so in love with the iron pyrite cabochons...and the stone up top is an opal!!!

assemblage, part 2

Some of the items I was working on last week.  I'm very excited about the watch band bracelets (like the one above)

Now that I have photos, I'll be working on a shop update!

chipboard cards

Check out our new laser cut cards--We tried out a few different styles, and still aren't quite sure which ones we're going to use. I like the cutout ones, but poking out the letters can get exasperating.  The etched ones are nice and subtle, and the blank ones can be stamped or left as is. Our website is on the back, so even the blank ones are branded. What do you think and which ones do you like?

Some New Items in the Shop

New in the shop

Our horizontal mesquite necklace:

Vertical mesquite necklace:

And new teeny tiny stud earrings!

You can click on the photo or the link to view the listing.  I'm so excited about the wooden pendant necklaces. Mesquite is such a beautiful wood to begin with, and we made some homemade beeswax polish to finish them--it makes the wood look so beautiful.  I went on a furniture polishing rampage throughout the house after I made it!

Some new (old) things

Look at what my mom made me for my birthday!

I wanted a larg-ish pin cushion, and we found this sugar bowl (sans lid) at a thrift store while she was visiting, but didn't have the right colored velvet, so she packed the sugar bowl home and sent it to me with place to put pins!  I love it!

And then, there are European treasures that my sister found in the flea markets I made her visit:

I love the binoculars.  They were from an antique shop in Lyon. The case says "the opticians of her majesty"

And I know this isn't old, but look!  Look at this beautiful, wonderful flowery printed liberty fabric that is going to become a scarf for me this winter!  Luckily there is a whole meter(!) of it (oh how I wish metric was standard) so there will even be some left over!
